For my makeup, I went with a glittery, wine colored smokey eye and natural face makeup. This is just a darker, smokier version of my versatile everyday look. I rely on neutral eyes and the occasional fun lip color for my 9-5 look. For the holidays, I swap out some of my everyday neutrals for gold tones and glitter to keep it festive and fun. For this tutorial, I used Sephora & Ulta products and brushes from my wedding.

I always start by washing my face. I really like the Biore Charcoal Cleanser. It is gentle on skin but tough on dirt, grease and any of yesterday's lingering makeup. I apply a gentle moisturizer after cleansing to keep my skin from drying out. I really like Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. I have used a lot of different generic or store brand moisturizers in the past, they tend to leave behind residue or don't fully absorb. The Clinique product is more expensive, but my bottle has lasted over a year now and I don't have to pat off excess lotion or residue. One to two pumps absorbs completely and leaves my skin ready for makeup.
Once my face is prepped, I start with my eyes, applying a few dabs of the MaryKay Undereye Corrector and blending, followed by the bareMinerals Concealer. Next I pump out some Make Up Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation into the palm of my hand. Using my Sephora Multitasker brush, I dab some foundation onto my face and blend until I have even coverage. Next with the Sephora Must Have Large Powder Brush, I grab some of the N.Y.C. Loose Face Powder to set the foundation. In winter months, I will top this with a bit of loose powder bronzer to give my face a healthy glow. Next I work on my contouring with the Make Up Forever Custom Palette. I follow this handy contouring chart from Buzzfeed. It has not let me down in the last year.
Now time for your eyes, the home stretch. I follow a simple rule of blending 3 eyeshadow shades, light to dark that I learned at a Mary Kay party. First apply your lightest shade (the highlight) all over your eyelid, up to the eyebrow. I always use my NYX Cosmetics Infinite Shadow Stick in Crystal as my highlighter, no matter the occasion. Next apply the main shade to just your eyelid. Finally, at the outer corner of your eye, apply the contour color. Blend the 3 with your finger.
Now apply your liquid eyeliner. I really love the Essence Waterproof Eyeliner Pen. I have tried more expensive pens and found they smudge on my eyelids throughout the day. The Essence pen retails at Ulta for a mere $3! I swear by this pen. It is easy to work with, especially if you have a shaky hand. Next apply your mascara - I really love the Urban Decay Perversion mascara. It amps up my lashes without too much bulk or gunk. Although it is not waterproof, it has definite staying power lasts. Finally, pucker up and apply your go-to lip color. I am really digging nude lips lately, especially when I pump up my eye color. The NYX Simply Nude Lip Creams are awesome - they go on smooth and last several hours before needing to reapply.
